The article also introduces a new research paper, Is Social Media a Threat to Democracy?, written by Anamitra Deb and Stacy Donohue from Omidyar Network and our colleague Tom Glaisyer from Democracy Fund. The paper outlines six issues we’ve been investigating in depth for the last several months, and includes questions on echo chambers, polarization, dark ads, algorithms, bots, and hate speech.
