A former journalist, Elena is the author of Delinquent: Inside America’s Debt Machine, published in 2022 by University of California Press. Her work has appeared in Slate, American Banker, U.S. News and World Report, The New Republic, The Nation, Vice and Business Insider. Elena Botella started her career in the financial sector, where she led cross-functional teams and taught credit risk management.
