Lauren Alexander serves as the senior communications manager at Omidyar Network, where she leads efforts to drive narrative change and to promote storytelling for a more inclusive and representative digital technology system, especially as it pertains to AI.
Previously, Lauren directed a global team at Twitter, educating stakeholders about initiatives to combat misinformation, protect elections, and prevent abuse and harassment. She worked collaboratively across departments to address complex challenges within the platform.
Lauren began her career in the tech sector as a policy communications manager at Lyft, where she utilized her experience from the ACLU of California and the New York Civil Liberties Union to advance driver and rider safety initiatives and support statewide regulations for ridesharing services.
At the ACLU, Lauren discovered the transformative potential of technology in addressing real-world issues, contributing to the development of one of the first cop watch apps aimed at reducing abusive policing in New York City.
Lauren holds a Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
