Washington, DC — Omidyar Network announced that Michele Lawrence Jawando, formerly head of US Strategic Engagement and Public Policy Partnerships at Google, will be joining Omidyar Network as Senior Vice President of Programs as of April 12. In this new role at the organization, Jawando will oversee the program teams of Omidyar Networks’ Impact Themes: Responsible Technology, Reimagining Capitalism, and Building Cultures of Belonging.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michele Jawando to our team,” said Mike Kubzansky, CEO of Omidyar Network. “From her experience working on Capitol Hill, in the private sector, and as an advocate and policy expert, Michele’s impressive background is well-aligned with Omidyar Network’s efforts to expand our social impact. Michele made it clear that she wanted to return to a mission-driven, social impact organization given the current state of Silicon Valley, and Omidyar Network is the perfect home for her.”
“Omidyar Network’s vision to build more equitable and inclusive societies inspires me, and I am excited to join the team,” said Jawando. “I’ve spent my career standing up for causes that I believe in, and I know Omidyar Network is the right place for me to continue my life’s work. I am looking forward to helping bring about real change with issues that have the power to fundamentally transform society for the better.”
