Gretchen Phillips serves as a managing director at Omidyar Network. In this role, she leads the organization’s effort to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy that centers the well-being of communities and society at large. She has also served as the organization’s chief of staff, where she worked with the CEO, board of directors, and leadership team on strategic and operational priorities.
Prior to joining Omidyar Network, Gretchen was the chief executive officer of GenerationHope, Inc., a consumer products company that reinvests its profits in innovative programming for the economic advancement of Filipinos. She is passionate about building organizations that drive innovative, market-oriented solutions to enable inclusive and sustainable growth and has worked with a range of organizations to that end, including Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Company, the US Department of State, TechnoServe, and PRADAN.
Gretchen serves on the boards of the Aceli Africa (Chair), BuildUS (Co-Chair), Friends of Hope, Global Development Incubator, and MicroBuild Fund. She holds an MPA in international development from Harvard University and has an A.B. in economics, Spanish, and Latin American studies, summa cum laude, from Duke University.
