Reporters in Residence Program

About the Program

Since 2023, Omidyar Network’s Reporters in Residence program has empowered freelance journalists to pursue rigorous reporting that drives national conversations and informs policy debates.

Over the course of their six month residences, each journalist receives a monthly stipend, travel expenses, and access to Omidyar Network staff and partners. The reporters maintain full editorial control and discretion over their work.

Our latest cohort is reporting on an array of critical technological issues shaping our evolving world, including:

  • Shifts in the policies, regulations, and accountability structures that govern technology and generative AI.
  • Impacts of competition and market concentration on the innovation and safety of tech products.
  • Intersections of technology and worker power.

Our newest reporters in residence embody the cutting edge of technology journalism. These journalists possess the expertise needed to dissect and convey the complexities of today’s landscape—and with Omidyar Network’s support, they will be well-positioned to deepen society’s collective understanding of technology’s transformative impact.
