Zachary Carter Joins Omidyar Network as first Writer in Residence

Washington, DC — Omidyar Network today announced that Zachary Carter, formerly a senior reporter at HuffPost, will join Omidyar Network’s Reimagining Capitalism practice as its first Writer in Residence. In this role, Carter will continue his award-winning coverage on economic policy and history, and help drive the national conversation about the structural inequities at the root of our economy.

“We are thrilled to welcome Zach as our first Writer in Residence as we work to shift our economy toward a more equitable and inclusive form of capitalism,” said Mike Kubzansky, CEO of Omidyar Network. “As one of the top journalists covering how economic policy shapes American politics, we’re excited to support Zach’s work to inform Americans’ understanding of our economy.”

Carter spent 10 years at HuffPost, and has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post, among many other outlets. He is the author of “The Price of Peace: Money, Democracy, and the Life of John Maynard Keynes,” a New York Times bestseller and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. Carter began his career at SNL Financial (now a division of S&P Global), where he was a banking reporter during the 2008 financial crisis.

“I’ve spent much of my career examining the ways that economic policy and financial power affect the lives of ordinary people,” said Carter. “I’m excited to continue that work at Omidyar Network, a home to big thinkers who sit at the intersection of philanthropy, technology, business, economics, and advocacy.”

In addition to his work with Omidyar Network as a Writer in Residence, Carter will continue writing for top national publications while he works on a new book.
