As chief of staff of programs, Emma works closely with Omidyar Network’s senior vice president of programs to drive impact across the firm’s thematic areas, to which she brings skills in translation, synthesis, and execution.
Additionally, she works programmatically with the Responsible Technology team, specifically the encrypted messaging platforms team, to support safe private messaging. She also leads technology and youth explorations in this capacity.
Prior to joining Omidyar Network, Emma completed research on the complex role of human intermediaries in India’s Aadhaar biometric digital ID infrastructure at the London School of Economics. Prior to that, while working in people operations at Google, she collaborated with the company’s Next Billion Users team to understand the financial challenges faced by new internet users in India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil. Previously, Emma lived and worked in India as a researcher with the Fulbright-Nehru Research Fellowship supported by the U.S. Department of State. She also worked on performing arts education initiatives in rural Maharashtra.
Emma holds a B.A. in religion from Oberlin College. She received her M.A. in international development from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
