Eliza brings a diverse background in global development finance to Omidyar Network, where she manages investments across the Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion initiatives. Focusing on Latin America, she invests in organizations that create economic opportunity for millions of people living at the base of the pyramid.
Before joining Omidyar Network in fall 2011, Eliza was the chief lending officer at Calvert Foundation, where she was responsible for the management and growth of the foundation and its subsidiaries' more than $325 million in assets under management. Previously, Eliza managed Calvert Foundation’s international portfolio. Under her direction, that portfolio grew from $10 million to over $70 million in loans and equity investments outstanding in financial inclusion, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and water and sanitation. Earlier in her career, Eliza worked with the Corporation for Enterprise Development and the U.S. Agency for International Development, providing management consulting and investment services to development finance institutions in the United States, Latin America, South Asia, and North Africa.
Eliza earned an MPP with concentrations in finance and program evaluation from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, as well as an A.B. in politics from Princeton University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Eliza helped found MFX Solutions and serves on its board of directors. She also serves on the board of the Cultural Development Corporation, which creates affordable living and working space for artists in Washington, D.C.
