The International Land Coalition (ILC) is a global alliance of civil society and intergovernmental organizations that promotes secure land rights for poor people through advocacy, dialogue, and capacity building.

Why We Invested

ILC focuses on significantly improving transparency and access to information on land and other natural resources by connecting individuals and organizations around the world and allowing them to more quickly and easily create, share, and disseminate reliable information. Through its Land Reporting Initiative, ILC gathers comprehensive data on the poor’s access to land and land tenure security in order to encourage reforms that bring land rights to poor people worldwide.

With Omidyar Network’s support, ILC has developed a Land Portal, an integrated, online platform designed to make finding, sharing, and collaborating on land information easier and more effective. By connecting land practitioners, researchers, activists, and organizations from around the world and enabling the exchange of user-generated content, the Land Portal improves transparency, land monitoring, and access to reliable information on land and property rights for better land governance.
