Susan joined Omidyar Network in early 2009 following more than 20 years in consumer marketing and people development roles. She provides marketing and organizational expertise to portfolio organizations as part of Omidyar Network's human capital efforts. Previously, Susan led the firm's marketing and communications function, managing media relations, internal communications, brand development, and marketing programs.
Prior to joining Omidyar Network, Susan held increasingly senior positions at eBay, Inc. From 2006 to 2008, as vice president of global marketing at PayPal, she oversaw a 120-person organization, growing customer accounts from 105 million to 141 million and contributing to over 35 percent annual revenue growth. Prior to joining PayPal, Susan spent five years in marketing leadership roles at eBay. Her contributions included launching and scaling seller marketing, overseeing event marketing, and leading consumer and trade marketing for marquis billion dollar category businesses such as collectibles, apparel, and toys. Susan joined eBay in 2001 as eBay Motors’ director of marketing. Prior to joining eBay, Susan was senior director of brand marketing at Excite@Home. She also worked on the Ocean Spray and Clorox brands during five years in account management at Arnold Advertising and Foote Cone & Belding. Susan began her marketing career at Bank of America.
Susan earned her MBA in marketing and organizational behavior at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA with distinction in rhetoric and communications studies at the University of Virginia. She is a certified Integral Coach and Myers-Briggs facilitator.
