Rafa de la Guía invests in nonprofit and for-profit ventures in education and emerging technologies. His edtech portfolio includes Geekie, Guten News, and Platzi in Latin America, and Code.org, LearnZillion, Reach Capital, and Socratic in the US.
Before joining Omidyar Network in 2012, Rafa spent several years working for both traditional and impact investment firms. He started his career at UBS Investment Bank as an analyst in the global health care group based in London. He later served as an investment associate at MezzVest, a leading European mezzanine debt fund manager. Rafa has also worked for the World Resources Institute’s New Ventures program, a sustainable business accelerator in Mexico, and Acumen Fund, a nonprofit global venture fund in New York.
Rafa received an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley where he was a C.J. White Grant recipient and Mutua Madrileña Fellow. Rafa has honors degrees in law and business administration from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) in Madrid, Spain.
