During her time at Omidyar Network, Dena has held a variety of roles in support of the growth and success of the firm’s investees. Currently, she leads Omidyar Network’s governance work within the Human Capital group, in addition to sourcing and managing leadership investments in association with the firm’s initiatives. Her portfolio includes African Leadership University (ALU), African Leadership Academy (ALA), Endeavor, RippleWorks, The Bridgespan Group, and Leadership Academy for Development. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Crisis Text Line and FUSE Corps.
Prior to her current role, Dena led investments in online technologies focused on transparency, accountability, and trust across media, markets, and government. She also led some of Omidyar Network’s most successful investments including KaBOOM!, DonorsChoose.org, and Global Giving, from seed stage through sustainability.
Dena is one of the longest tenured members of Omidyar Network, having joined the team in 2002. She was an integral part of the organization’s transition from a traditional foundation to its current innovative model of philanthropy in 2004.
Before joining Omidyar Network, Dena served as a senior consultant for a boutique consulting firm, where she worked to improve the organizational effectiveness of nonprofits. She was also a consultant at Accenture, where she was responsible for change management aspects of large-scale system implementations in the electronics and high-tech industries.
Dena earned a B.S. in business management and organizational analysis from Santa Clara University.
