Since its founding in 1974, the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE) has gained a national and international reputation as one of Mexico’s leading public policy think tanks, known for its balance of scientific rigor and social relevance. It has long been a leader in research studies related to transparency and accountability in Latin America.
In 2011, CIDE launched its master’s program in journalism, with a focus on theory, practice, and the use of new technologies. CIDE’s goal is to equip a new generation of investigative journalists with the tools they need to serve the public interest. In particular, CIDE promotes data-driven journalism, teaching students how to use and analyze data to create a compelling narrative.
Additionally, CIDE’s open data blog provides the mainstream media access to government data that has been collected, analyzed, and presented visually, thus maximizing its distribution and impact.
