The Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) is a global coalition of private sector, public sector, and not-for-profit organizations. The group is committed to lowering the cost of internet access in the developing world via policy and regulatory reform. The A4AI focuses on creating the conditions for open, efficient, and competitive broadband markets.
The UN Broadband Commission has established a target of entry-level broadband services priced at less than five percent of average monthly income. The A4AI works to achieve this target through a combination of advocacy, research, and knowledge-sharing.
With support from Omidyar Network and others, A4AI will help to connect the two-thirds of the population in developing countries who cannot access the Internet, thus spurring greater economic growth and large-scale innovation.
